Study Buddy believes in transparency. This page explains our (very simple) approach to cookies and local storage.

1. No Cookies

Study Buddy does not use any cookies. We do not set, read, or process cookies in any form — not for functionality, analytics, advertising, or any other purpose.

2. Local Storage (Not Cookies)

Study Buddy uses your browser's local storage to save your data. Local storage is a built-in browser feature that is similar to cookies but different in important ways:

• Local storage is not sent to servers — unlike cookies, local storage data stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted with HTTP requests.
• No third-party access — only your browser can read local storage for this website. No other website or service can access it.
• No expiration — local storage data persists until you delete it or clear your browser data.

3. What We Store in Local Storage

• Study cards — your questions, answers, subjects, and metadata.
• Progress data — XP, level, streaks, badges, daily goals, and quiz scores.
• Preferences — theme (dark/light mode) and sound settings.
• Cookie consent — a single flag recording that you acknowledged this cookie policy.

4. Third-Party Services and Cookies

When you use Study Buddy, your browser may send requests to the following third-party services. These services have their own privacy and cookie policies:

• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may use cookies to serve fonts. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Groq AI — AI features send requests to the Groq API. Groq's privacy policy applies to those requests. See Groq's Privacy Policy.

We have no control over cookies set by these third-party services. You can manage them through your browser settings.

5. Managing Your Data

• To delete your study data, use the delete button on individual cards, or clear your browser's local storage for this site.
• To opt out of the cookie consent banner, simply accept it once — we store your choice in local storage.
• To reset everything, clear your browser's local storage for this site in your browser settings.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
